Elance-oDesk, provider of a platform for freelance talent, has raised $30 million in a round of funding led by Benchmark with participation from NEA, FirstMark Capital, Sigma West, Stripes Group, and T.Rowe Price. The company will use the new capital for improving its technology for global expansion while focusing on developing collaboration tools.


India-based eCommerce company FlipKart has raised $600 million in third round funding from Tiger Global, Naspers, and DST Global. The company raised $1 billion in a round of funding earlier this year, and is currently valued at $10 billion. The company will use the new capital for marketing initiatives behind well-known brands while scouting for acquisitions.


Children’s multi brand fashion e-tailer Melijoe.com has raised $11.2 million in a round of funding led by Gimv with participation from CM-CIC Capital Prive. The company will use the new funding for expanding its offerings and growing internationally.

Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) has acquired Cooliris, developer of a mobile app for finding photos across social networks. Cooliris had recently raised $28 million in funding from KPCB, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Venture, DAG Ventures and The Westly Group. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

UK-based mobile local events marketplace and going out app YPlan has raised $24 million in Series B funding from Octopus Investments, General Catalyst Partners and Wellington Partners. The company will use the funding for strengthening its offerings in core markets, expanding into new ones, and accelerating a program of product and technology development

Viglink, which develops a technology that automatically inserts affiliated links for publishers, has raised $18 million Series C from Foundry Group and Costanova Venture Capital. The company has used the new capital to acquire LinkSmart, which focuses on helping online publishers promote content. LinkSmart had recently raised a total funding of $20 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ooyala, a Telstra (ASX:TLS) subsidiary and provider of video streaming, personalization, and analytics solutions, has acquired Videoplaza, a video advertising and monetization company. The acquisition will allow Ooyala to expand into the video ad market while building out a new business dimension in advertising, and will offer Videoplaza an expanded product portfolio. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

News Corp. has acquired a 25 percent stake in India-based Elara, which operates real estate portal PropTiger.com, for $30 million. PropTiger had previously raised $5 million from SAIF Partners and Accel Partners, and the acquisition will allow PropTiger to draw on News Corp.’s experience as an operator of Realtor.com and Realestate.com.au.

France-based management software provider for doctors Doctolib, which develops an online and mobile booking platform, has raised $5.3 million in Series B funding from angel investors. The company has raised $6.2 million to date, and will use the new capital for expansion domestically and into the US.

Process automation and predictive analytics company Alpha Systems, a provider of electronic document management solutions for improving cycle operations at hospitals and health systems, has been acquired by DataBank, a provider of workflow and enterprise content software solutions. Alpha Systems will merge with Databank’s healthcare division. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Israel-based SimilarWeb, a provider of web analytics, data mining services, and business intelligence solutions, has raised $15 million in Series D funding from Naspers. The company has raised $40 million to date, and will use the new capital to make strategic acquisitions in the mobile analytics field including apps that could help it maintain a good window on app store activities.

Experiment Engine, provider of a conversation optimization platform, has raised $1 million in a round of funding from Founder Collective and Mercury Fund. The company will use the new capital for expanding its platform and driving sales and marketing initiatives.

Mobile value added services company Mariposa Holdings, which provides marketing, content, money transfer, music, and cloud offerings, has raised $3.5 million in debt and equity financing led by HOF Capital Fund with participation from Overall Capital and GAAP Financial.

Mobilize, a provider of community management solutions designed to manage and engage external workforces and contributors in the new economy, has raised $2.1 million in a round of funding from Hillsven Capital and UpWest Labs. The company will use the new capital for growing its team, accelerating product development, and continuing to support its beta customers.


Germany-based riskmethods, a provider of comprehensive supply chain risk management solutions, has raised $2 million in growth capital led by Senovo with participation from Bayern Kapital and Point Nine Capital. The company will use the new funding for extending its existing portfolio, increasing talent in the sales and software development areas, and strengthening internationalization efforts.


Japan-based cloud accounting software developer Accounting SaaS Japan has raised $8.7 million in Series B funding led by Fidelity Growth Partners, Arbor Ventures, and i Mercury Capital with participation from Mobile Internet Capital.

UK-based Advanced Computer Software Group (AIM:ASW), a provider of business and healthcare software, has been acquired by Vista Equity Partners for $1.1 billion in an all cash transaction. The company posted revenue of $254 million for FY 2014.

Wealth-X, a provider of sales, marketing, and compliance solutions to companies targeting the ultra-high net worth market, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Insight Ventures Partners. The company will use the new capital for expanding global operations including marketing and sales, investing in product innovation, and evaluating strategic acquisition opportunities.

Advanced Integration Technology, a provider of automation, tooling, and maintenance services for the aerospace market, has raised and undisclosed amount of private equity funding from Onex Partners (TSX:OCX).


Loyalist Group, an operator of English as a second language schools and programs, has acquired South Korea-based student recruiting agency Uhak.com, a provider of information and registration services for South Korean students looking to study abroad, for $8.1 million in cash and stock. The acquisition adds a new dimension to Loyalist’s vertical integration strategy.


Campus education network Galvanize has acquired Zipfian Academy, a provider of industry-focused training in data science and engineering. Zipfian’s programs will be integrated into Galvanize’s industry-focused technology training. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
