Pro.com, which provides a pricing engine for estimating the cost of a home project, has raised $14 million in Series A funding co-led by Maveron and Madrona Venture Group. The company plans on using the new capital to continue to grow its national customer base and add more home service professionals to its marketplace.

Canada-based Hootsuite, a provider of social media management solutions, has raised $60 million in new capital and debt funding from Accel Partners, Insight Venture Partner, and OMERS Ventures. The company, which has now raised $250 million in total, intends on using the new capital to continue to scale on a global level. The company also announced the acquisition of social telephony startup Zeetl.

Catawiki, an online auction house focused on “exceptional objects and collectables,” has raised $12.7 million in Series B funding led by Accel Partners with participation from Project A Ventures and individual angels. The company plans on using the new capital to expand through Europe, extend the number of specialist auction categories available, and build the online marketing team.


POW, a developer of gloves and other apparel for snowboarders and other outdoor sports enthusiasts, has raised $2.5 million in funding from Columbia Pacific Advisors.


China-based Uuzuche.com, which provides a car-sharing platform, has raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Lightspeed China Partners with participation from K2 Ventures and angel investors.

Hub Television Networks, which provides online television services, was acquired by media and entertainment company Discovery Communications from Hasbro (Nasdaq:HAS). Terms were not disclosed.

Clearstream, a video targeting platform built for advertisers and brands, has acquired EngageHD, a platform that enhances mining capabilities, targeting, and ad delivery on mobile devices. Terms were not disclosed.

CommonFloor, an India-focused real estate portal, has raised $30 million in funding from existing shareholder Tiger Global. The company plans on using the new capital to continue to grow its marketing and operations across the 18 cities where it is present and expand to 22 new markets in India.

UK-based Go Direct Marketing, which operates a direct marketing agency, was acquired by York Mailing, which provides services from pre-press and print to final distribution. Terms were not disclosed.


Blackhawk Network (Nasdaq: HAWK) has agreed to acquire Parago, a provider of customer incentive and engagement solutions, for approximately $290 million. Sellers include TH Lee Putnam Ventures and Seaboard Ventures.


FiveStars, a provider of digital loyalty rewards programs for small merchants, has raised $26 million in Series B funding led by Menlo Ventures with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners, DCM, and Rogers Communications.

Methodologie, which provides businesses communication services to customers, was acquired by Digital Kitchen, a company that creates branded content in various mediums. The two agencies have been informally working together since April. For now, Methodologie will continue to operate under its brand name. Terms were not disclosed.

Japan-based freee, a SaaS accounting company, has raised $6 million in Series B funding led by Pavilion Capital and Recruit Strategic Partners. The company intends on using the new capital to accelerate development and further strengthen its market position in the Japanese SMB market.

Enterprise technology and solutions provider Blackboard has acquired Requestec, which offers real-time video communication tools that will now be integrated into Blackboard’s learning management system. Terms were not disclosed.

F.W. Davison & Co., a provider of software for the professional employer organization and administrative service organization markets, has secured a minority growth equity investment from Accel-KKR.

Apptentive, which offers a software development kit for mobile applications, has raised $5.3 million in Series A funding co-led by SurveyMonkey and Origin Ventures with participation from Founders Co-op and Golden Venture Partners. The company plans on using the new capital to expand its suite of in-app customer communication tools and accelerate its sales, marketing, and product development activities.
