Comprehend, which provides cloud-based business intelligence solutions for life sciences companies, has raised $21 million in Series B funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Sequoia Capital. The company intends on using the new capital to expand its product development and customer solutions teams to further develop its cloud-based business intelligence solution.


Medallia, which provides customer experience management tracking software, has raised $50 million in new funding from Sequoia Capital. The company now has raised $105 million in total funding from Sequoia. The company intends on using the funds to accelerate expansion of its SaaS platform and enhance its text analytics engine.

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has acquired Jetpac, which develops a travel app that integrates image integration. Jetpac had raised $2.4 million in Series A funding from investors like Khosla Ventures, Jerry Yang, and Morado Venture Partners. Terms were not disclosed.

Vurb, which provides a mobile platform to organize and connect all the services together on the web, raised $8 million in Series A funding led by Redpoint Ventures with participation from Stanford University and some seed investor. The company intends on using  the funds to expand its team in SF and expand operations.

Zeta Associates, which provides software-based communications signals collection and processing systems to intelligence and defense communities worldwide, was acquired by security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), which engages in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, and sustainment of advanced technology systems. Terms were not disclosed.



Canada-based FreshGrade, a communications platform for teachers, has raised $4.3 million in seed funding from NewSchools Venture Fund, Emerson Collective, Accel Partners, and The Social+Capital Partnership.


Baird Capital Partners has sold MedData, which provides revenue cycle management services for the healthcare services market, to clinical care services provider Mednax (NYSE: MD). Terms were not disclosed.


Sweden-based Quinyx, a provider of workforce management solutions in the cloud, has raised $14 million in VC funding from Alfvén & Didrikson.


Israel-based GuardiCore, which develops security solutions for modern data centers, has raised $11 million in funding led by Battery Ventures with participation from Greylock. The company intends on using the new capital to expand and sell its technology.

ScriptRock, which provides a configuration monitoring platform, has raised $8.7 million in Series A funding led by August Capital with participation from Valar Ventures and Square Peg Capital. The company intends on using the funds to expand operations.

ePlus Technology, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ePlus(Nasdaq: PLUS), has acquired the operating assets of Granite Business Solutions (dba Evolve Technology Group), which is a provider of IT solutions. Evolve Technology Group had revenues of approximately $27 million in 2013. Terms were not disclosed.
