Redpoint Global, which provides tools to optimize customer experience, has raised $5.2 million in funding led by Grotech Ventures with participation from Sagamore Ventures. The company plans on using the new capital to accelerate sales and marketing initiatives.


Synergy Marketing (JASDAQ:3859), which offers customer relationship management, was acquired by Yahoo Japan (TSE:4689) for $91 million.

Digital Media/Commerce


Online retailer of mattresses Casper, has raised $13.1 in Series A funding led by New Enterprise Associates with participation from SV Angel and angel investors. With the latest round of funding, Casper plans to expand its team and marketing reach.

Kiwi, which develops mobile games, has raised $15 million in Series B funding led by Northgate Capital with participation from DFJ and Sequoia Capital. The company, which has now raised $21 million in funding to date, plans on using the new capital to improve distribution and monetization practices.

social media/apps

Directr, a startup that allows users to create, collaborate, and share short films, was acquired by Google (Nasdaq:GOOG). Directr had raised a small amount of VC funding from NextView Ventures, Boston Seed Capital, and Advancit Capital. Terms were not disclosed.

All Def Digital, which provides digital consumer entertainment brand and cross-platform, has raised $5 million in Series A funding led by Greycroft Partners with participation from Advancit Capital, Nu Horizons Investments, and e.Ventures. The company intends on using the new capital to accelerate its cross-platform growth, artist and talent development initiatives, and expand its multi-channel network and operations.

Growl Media, which provides educational entertainment content for young children, has received an undisclosed amount of Series A funding from the Auvest Group. Along with the investment, Auvest will acquire a significant minority stake in Growl. The funding will enable the company to expand its product offering to webisodes and TV, continue to build its apps, and enhance its technology platform.

Israel-based Vidmind, which enables virtual TV operators to launch an OTT Pay TV services, has raised $30 million in funding from Trellas.

Alternative investment product provider Investcorp has sold SourceMedia to Observer Capital. SourceMedia provides market information, including news, analysis, and insight to the financial services sector.  Terms were not disclosed.

Technology & Communications

Recruiting software firm Bullhorn has acquired The Code Works, which provides application tracking systems. The acquisition will allow Bullhorn to provide big data analytics to give staffing agency customers increase intelligence and insight. Terms were not disclosed.

cloud computing technology

Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) has acquired  PrivateCore, startup that enables private computing in the cloud. had raised just over $2 million in seed funding from Foundation Capital and TEEC Angel Fund. Terms were not disclosed.

cloud storage

Quantum Corp. (NYSE: QTM) has acquired Symform’s cloud storage services platform, which is currently used by 45,000 individual users and small businesses in 170 countries. Terms were not disclosed.



GridCraft, which provides in-context collaboration tools, has raised $2.2 million in seed funding led by Bullet Time Ventures with participation from Cohort Capital, Confluence Capital Partners, Drummond Road Capital, Galvanize Ventures, Impact Angel Group, Startup Studio Ventures, and angel investors.


Advanced Discovery, which provides legal consulting and software solutions, has received a sponsorship of a recapitalization from Trivest Partners. Terms were not disclosed.
