Leonard Green & Partners and CVC Capital Partners have acquired a majority stake in Advantage Sales & Marketing, a provider of outsourced sales and marketing services to manufacturers of consumer goods and retailers, from Apax Partners. Terms were not disclosed.  The deal is reportedly valued for more than $4 billion. ASM reportedly expects 2014 revenue of approximately $1.6 billion.

Hadoop analytics processing startup Radoop, was acquired by RapidMiner, a provider of predictive analytics built on an open stack. Prior to the acquisition, RapidMiner already had an existing partnership with the company, incorporating Radoop’s enterprise-geared big data analytics products into RapidMiner’s suite of predictive analytics offerings. Terms were not disclosed.

Rhiza, a provider of marketing analytics tools that make Big Data actionable for marketers and salespeople, has raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Draper Triangle Ventures, with participation Arthur Ventures and Camp One Ventures. The company intends on using the new capital for ongoing growth by building out its sales, marketing, and customer service teams.

RealPage, a provider of on-demand property management software, has acquired Spain-based Kigo, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) vacation rental booking and channel management system, from Creathor Venture Management for $37.5 million. With the acquisition of Kigo, RealPage further extends its vacation rental booking system internationally.

Kony Solutions, a mobile and multi-channel application platform and packaged applications provider, has raised $50 million in Series E funding led by Softbank Capital, with participation from Insight Venture Partners, Telstra Ventures, Georgian Partners, and Delta-V.

Paychex, a provider of payroll, human resource, insurance, and benefits outsourcing solutions for small to medium-sized businesses, has acquired Nettime solutions, which offerscloud-based solutions for employ time and attendance management applications. The combination of nettime’s development and Paychex’s service experience enables Paychex to expand in the time and attendance market. Terms were not disclosed.

Clari, which operates a mobile field sales productivity platform that combines mobile, design, and data science to help sales professionals to close deals faster, has raised $20 million in Series B funding led by Bain Capital Ventures, with participation from Northgate Capital and Sequoia Capital. The company, which has now raised $26 million in funding to date, plans on using the new funds for continued development of its knowledge graph and machine learning algorithms and scale out its API framework.

Bahamas-based domain retailer Internet.BS, was acquired by UK-based CentralNic (LSE:CNIC), which provides domain name registry services in the United States and Europe, for $7.5 million. The move is part of CentralNic’s strategy to offer domain names at retail as well as wholesale levels.

Worth1000.com, which operates as a design community website that runs creative competitions, was acquired by Australia-based DesignCrowd, which provides logo, website, print, and graphic design services through an online marketplace, from Emerge Media.

WPP’s wholly-owned operating company Millward Brown, a provider of brand, media and communications research, has acquired Netherlands-based marketing consulting firm EffectiveBrands Holding. Millward Brown will combine EffectiveBrands with Millward Brown Optimor, its strategy consulting unit, to form Millward Brown Vermeer. Terms were not disclosed.

CBS Outdoor Americas Inc. (NYSE:CBSO) has signed a purchase agreement with Windsor Outdoor to acquire in excess of 35 billboard structures with over 70 display faces in the City of Chicago, Illinois and the surrounding metropolitan area. Terms were not disclosed.

Cloud networking company VeloCloud Networks, has raised $21 million in funding led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Venrock, as well as incubator firm, The Fabric.

Repsly, a provider of a B2B mobile cloud solution to simplify processes for field teams and their managers, secured an undisclosed amount of funding led by Launchpad Venture Group, First Beverage Group, and K5 Ventures. The company intends to use the funds to grow marketing and sales infrastructure teams.


EQT Partners has acquired TIA Technology, which provides software solutions and professional services to the property/casualty and composite insurance industry worldwide, from DKA Capital. Terms were not disclosed.

Threat detection solutions provider BioCatch, has raised $10 million in funding from Blumberg Capital and OurCrowd. The company plans on using the funds to expand R&D efforts and continue growth in key markets, including the U.S. and Europe.

Email encryption software solutions provider Virtru, has raised $6 million in funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The company, which has now raised $10.3 million in funding to date, will use the capital to extend its platform support and create new features for consumers and businesses.

Cloud Elements, a cloud API integration and aggregation service, has raised $3.1 million in Series A funding led by Grotech Ventures, with participation from Icon Venture Partners and Galvanize Ventures. The company intends on using the funds to expand the development of its catalog of SaaS API connectors and API management platform, invest in developer outreach, and accelerate sales and marketing.

Emmis Communications (NASDAQ:EMMS), has acquired a controlling interest in pricing software firm Digonex Technologies, a software development company, develops, refines, and implements economic software solutions for large and small seller, for $3 million.

Sweden-based Tail-f, which provides software solutions and tools that enable developers of networking management systems to build their applications worldwide, was acquired by Cisco Systems (Nasdaq:CSCO), which designs, manufactures, and sells Internet protocol (IP) and other products related to the communications and information technology industry, for $175 million.


Silver Lake  is in talks to sell off China-based Allyes Online Media Holding, which offers online advertising agency services, advertising networks, performance marketing, advertising technology solutions and online market research services, via a three-part process.
