Mobile marketing solutions provider Amobee, has acquired UK-based online ad network companies Adconion Direct North America and Adconion Australia, as well as Kontera Technologies. With the combined capabilities, Amobee is positioned to better capitalize on the fast growing global digital advertising market. Adconion will be acquired at a valuation of $235 million (the consideration payable is $209 million, excluding debt).  The valuation and consideration payable for Kontera is approximately $150 million.

Spain-based TextMaster, a provider of crowdsourced proofreading, translation, and copywriting services, has raised $1.4 million in second round funding led by Alven Capital and eFounders. The company intends on using the new capital to pursue its expansion into Germany and Asia, as well as prepare for a third round of funding.

TrendKite, a developer of software that helps organizations better understand what the world thinks of them by providing real-time analyses of industry trends, press activity, and market opportunities, has raised $3.2 million in Series A funding led by Mercury Fund and Silverton Partners. The company, which has now raised $4.4 million in funding, plans on using the new capital to hire new team members, invest in big data processing infrastructure, and expand its sales team.

Alibaba Group has acquired the remaining shares it does not already own in China-based UCWEB, which develops mobile internet software technology and applications. The deal is reportedly being called the largest merger in Chinese internet providers market, which means the transaction could be worth anywhere north of $1.9 billion. Terms were not disclosed.

NQ Mobile (NYSE: NQ) has agreed to sell a 3.4 percent stake in its wholly-owned subsidiary China-based NationSky to Beijing Guorun Qilian Venture Capital Center for $18 million. NationSky is a provider of mobile services, and is expected to go public as an independent company within the next two years.

Zaius, a provider of an engagement platform that enables companies to optimize consumer experiences across channels, has raised $6.3 million in Series A funding led by Matrix Partners.


TeamSupport, a provider of customer support software for business-to-business companies, has raised $1.3 million in funding led by unnamed technology investors. The new round of funding will be used by the company to expand operations through increased marketing and sales, as well as hiring new senior team members.

Healthy Directions, which operates as a health publisher and direct-to-consumer retailer of doctor-formulated nutritional supplements and skincare products, was acquired by Helen of Troy (Nasdaq:HELE), which designs, develops, imports, and markets consumer products operating in three segments; personal care, housewares, and healthcare, for $195 million.

Netherlands-based Layar, an application that uses GPS, compass, and other sensors in a user’s mobile phone to provide a heads-up display of various geo-located points-of-interest, was acquired by Blippar, which provides image-recognition mobile applications. Terms were not disclosed.

Malaysia-based The Malaysian Insider, which operates an online news portal, was acquired by Singapore-based The Edge Media Group, a company that publishes a business and investment weekly newspaper. Terms were not disclosed.

Upfront Digital Media (fka Legolas Media), an audience marketplace that enables advertisers and publishers to maximize ad performance and revenue, was acquired by digital advertising solutions provider Undertone. The acquisition adds cross-screen programmatic direct and private exchange capabilities to Undertone. Terms were not disclosed.

Handybook, which offers a platform allowing users to book professional home services, such as handymen and cleaners online, has raised $30 million in Series B funding led by Revolution Growth, with participation from Highland Capital Partners and General Catalyst Partners. The company, which has now raised $49 million in total capital, will use the new funding to build its team and product.

SpotHero, which offers a mobile application and website that enables drivers to reserve parking spots, has raised $4.5 million in Series A funding led by Chicago Ventures, Bullpen Capital. Battery Ventures, OCA Ventures, Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Lightbank, G2T3V, e.ventures, Draper Associates, and 500 Startups. The company will use the new capital to expand their national presence.

Mobile advertising business Hongkong Zoom Interactive, was acquired by mobile internet company Cheetah Mobile (NYSE:CMCM), for $30 million. The acquisition of HongKong Zoom Interactive is expected to strengthen Cheetah Mobile’s mobile monetization efforts across the board.

Recipe discovery site Love With Food, has raised $1.4 million in VC funding led by Kapor Capital, 500 Startups, TEEC Angel Fund, with participation from Ironfire Capital, Scrum Ventures, and individual angel investors. The company, which has now raised $2 million in funding, will use the new money to attract more customers and expand the team to further improve its consumer insight offerings.

CRM and ERP-integrated communications services provider Weave, has raised $5 million in Series A funding from A Capital, with participation from Homebrew, Fuel Capital, SV Angel, Y Combinator, and Initialized Capital. The new capital will be used to hire new team members, expand sales and marketing, as well as further the development of new products.

Israel-based Zula, a startup that develops a mobile communication and productivity application for organizations, has raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Ourcrowd, Microsoft Ventures, and other individual angels. The company has now raised $4 million in funding to date.

Social learning platform Declara (fka Pierson Labs), which offers collaboration, semantic search, and analytics tools, as well as features for mentoring, peer assessment, and progress tracking, has raised $9 million in Series A funding led by EDBI and Linden Venture Fund. The company, which has now raised $25 million in funding, plans on using the new capital to broaden its global presence, as well as strengthen its current position in the U.S. and Latin America.

Core Informatics, a provider of data management software which helps accelerate scientific research, collaboration, and discover, has raised $5 million in Series A funding led by KLP Enterprises. The company plans on using the new capital to further scale up its software engineering and product development.

Data management platform Krux, has raised $35 million in Series B funding led by SAP Ventures, with participation from Time Warner Investments, Visionnaire Ventures, Temasek, Accel Partners, IDG Ventures, and The Entrepreneurs Fund. The company, which has now raised $50 million in funding, intends on using the new capital to expand global sales, as well as research and development initiatives.

Procore Technologies, which designs and develops software-as-a-service construction management software, has raised $15 million in Series D funding led by Bessemer Venture Partners. The company plans on using the new capital to accelerate growth and expand its suite of mobile and Web-based tools for management construction projects.

Business dashboards and data warehouse software company ClicData, has raised $1 million in funding led by private investors. The company plans on using the new capital to commercialize the product following its launch.

healthcare  software

Integrated health and human services management company Harmony Information Systems, which provides off-the-shelf solutions for managing the delivery of home- and community-based, long-term care, was acquired by performance management information software solutions company Mediware Information Systems. Terms were not disclosed.

ERP Software solutions provider eSolutions, has acquired a stake in Synergistic Software Solutions, which develops the product “JobOps”. Terms were not disclosed.


SourceClear, a provider of a software security platform for developers, has raised $1.5 million in seed funding led by individual investors.

Information & Business Services


Skybox Imaging, which provides high resolution space-based imagery of Earth, was acquired by Google (Nasdaq:GOOG) for $500 million. Prior to the acquisition, Skybox had raised over $90 million in VC funding from Bessemer Venture Partners, Khosla Ventures, Canaan Partners and Norwest Venture Partners.
