Finland-based Kippt,which allows users to find, organize, read, store, and share information on the Web, was acquired by Coinbase, a bitcoin digital wallet company. The acquisition of Kippt is Coinbase’s first acquisition since it raised $25 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz last year.

Digby, a provider of mobile commerce and mobile in-store customer engagement solutions for retailers, was acquired by Phunware, which provides a multiscreen cloud platform that enables brands to engage, manage, and monetize their users. The acquisition will enhance Phunware’s presence in the retail vertical. Terms were not disclosed.

Communications platform for mobile and Web apps Layer, has raised $14.5 million in Series A funding led by Homebrew, AME Cloud Ventures, CrunchFund, Fuel Capital, and individual investors. The valuation is reportedly in the mid-$60 million range.

Spain-based event discovery application Fever, has raised $3 million in seed funding led by individual investors. The new round of funding will be used to expand the company’s platform.

India-based LimeRoad, an online social discovery platform geared towards women, has raised $15 million in Series B funding led by Tiger Global, with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Matrix Partners India. The company, which had previously raised $5 million in Series A funding, plans on using the newly raised capital to expand operations.

Colabo, which provides an automated sales acceleration platform that enables sales teams to discover and qualify leads using any third party and proprietary signal, has raised $1.5 million in funding led by The Hive and individual investors. The company intends on using the new capital to grow its lead discovery platform.

HG Data, a provider of business intelligence services to technology companies for marketing and sales leads, has raised $2 million in Series A funding led by Rincon Venture Partners, with participation from Epic Ventures, and several angel investors. The investment, which brought the company’s total funding to $5.5 million, will be used to accelerate customer acquisition, expand into international markets, and grow its channel partners.

Table8, a restaurant platform that offers patrons access to last minute restaurant reservations, has raised $4.6 million in funding led by Concur (Nasdaq:CNQR), a provider of integrated travel and expense management solutions. With the new funding the company will accelerate the rollout of its platform across the U.S. and continue its development.

Wine discovery mobile app developer Delectable, has raised $3 million in Series A funding led by Deep Fork Capital, DN Capital, and Ceyuan Ventures.

Caring.com, a provider of an online destination for caregivers seeking information on eldercare, was acquired by Bankrate (NYSE:RATE), a company that publishes, aggregates, and distributes personal finance content on the Web, for $54 million.

DealTicker, an online platform that offers discounted products and services in the U.S. and Canada, was acquired by LiveDeal (NasdaqCM:LIVE), a geo-location based mobile marketing platform that enables restaurants to publish “real-time” and “instant offers” to nearby consumers. The acquisition will enable Livedeal to expand beyond the restaurant industry and into the retail market. Terms were not disclosed.

Genuine Interactive, a full-service interactive agency that creates websites and online marketing campaign, was acquired by IPG-owned experiential marketing agency Jack Morton Worldwide. The acquisition will enable Jack Morton to expand its social and mobile capabilities, specifically relating to supplementing live events. Terms were not disclosed.

Sweden-based public relations firm Prime, was acquired by Interpublic Group’s public relations unit Weber Shandwick. The deal is Weber Shandwick’s largest acquisition since the Interpublic unit was formed in 2001, although terms are not disclosed.  Prime generated revenue of about $22.7 million and a profit of about $2.5 million in 2012-2013.

Diversified technology company 3M Company (NYSE:MMM), has sold its digital signage business to LSI Industries (NasdaqGS:LYTS), a provider of visual image solutions. Terms were not disclosed.

Cloud computing and technology services firm American Data Company, was acquired by Magnet 360, a marketing technology consultancy and salesforce.com partner. With the acquisition, Magnet 360 will further expand its West Coast presence and adds substantial experience to its professional services roster. Terms were not disclosed.

Maxta, a company that provides a platform that enables the convergence of compute and storage on standard servers, has raised $25 million in Series B funding led by Tenaya Capital and Intel Capital, with participation from existing investor Andreessen Horowitz. The company, which has now raised $35 million in funding, plans on using the new capital to continue product development and expand marketing and sales efforts.

Metacloud, a provider of on-demand private cloud-as-a-service solutions, has raised $15 million in Series B funding led by Pelion Venture Partners, Silicon Valley Bank, and UMC Capital, with participation from previous investors AME Cloud Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Storm Ventures. The new round of funding will be used to expand its team and accelerate product development.

Data center infrastructure startup Igneous Systems, has raised $23.6 million in Series A funding led by New Enterprise Associates, Madrona Venture Group, Redpoint Ventures, and individual investors. The company, which had previously raised $3 million in seed funding, intends on using the new capital for product development and expansion of its engineering and leadership teams.

Network Merchants, which builds and delivers eCommerce payment gateway solutions for companies that process retail and online transactions in real-time worldwide, has raised an undisclosed amount of growth equity funding from Great Hill Partners.

Stackdriver, a provider of intelligent management solutions for cloud-powered applications, was acquired by Google (NasdaqGS:GOOG). Previous to the acquisition, Stackdriver had raised $15 million in venture funding over two rounds led by Bain Capital and Flybridge Capital. Stackdriver’s services will be integrated with the Google cloud platform. Terms were not disclosed.

UpdateLogic, a provider of a device management system that enables consumer electronics manufacturers to efficiently and effectively control, maintain, and support Internet-connected digital  home products, was acquired by Silicon Image (NasdaqGS:SIMG), which provides video, audio, and data connectivity solutions that enable the distribution and presentation of high-definition.  Terms were not disclosed.

Germany-based TeamViewer, which develops and distributes solutions for desktop sharing and online collaboration over the Web, was acquired by private equity firm Permira from GFI Software (NYSE:GFIS). Terms were not disclosed.

healthcare software

CentraMed, a provider of SaaS business intelligence solutions for the healthcare industry, has sold all assets to Streamline Health Solutions (NasdaqCM:STRM), which offers enterprise content management and business analytics solutions to the healthcare providers. CentraMed will be integrated into Streamline’s “Looking Glass Platform”. Terms were not disclosed.

QPID, a company offering solutions to search and analyze data in electronic health records, has raised $12.3 million in Series B funding led by New Leaf Venture Partners. The company plans on using the investment to meet the market demand for its software solutions.

Cybersecurity company nPulse Technologies, which provides software solutions to financial institutions, government agencies, and telcos, was acquired by FireEye (NasdaqGS:FEYE), a provider of products and services for detecting, preventing cybersecurity threats, for $70 million.

Finland-based TrademarkNow, a company providing automated trademark search risk analysis, has raised $3.5 million in Series A funding led by Balderton Capital. With the new capital the company will build its team, as well as strengthen its global presence.

financial consulting

BBK, a provider of consulting services in the areas of operations management, crisis management, and turnaround consulting, has sold a majority stake to KPMG, a provider of assurance, tax, and financial advisory services. Terms were not disclosed.
