Online retailer of home furniture and décor Wayfair, has raised $157 million in Series B funding, at a $2 billion valuation. The investment was led by T. Rowe Price Associates, with participation from individual investors. Wayfair reported an annual growth rate of 55 percent in 2013 to end the year with $915 million in revenue. The new capital brings the company’s total funding to $358 million. It is reported that the company is prepping for an IPO in the next year.

India-based Oravel Stay, which provides an online booking platform for travel accommodations, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Educational mobile applications developer Quipper, has raised $5.8 million in funding led by Atomico, Benesse Holdings, and Globis Capital Partners. The company intends on using the funds to further develop their mobile learning platforms, as well as expanding globally.

Italy-based Polis Medialink, which provides online publishing services and operates an online news site YouReporter.it,  was acquired by RCS MediaGroup (BIT:RCS), which operates a multimedia publishing company. The acquisition aims to improve the video offering of the online version of Corriere della Sera and of the other properties of RCS MediaGroup, in Italy and abroad. Terms were not disclosed.

Ireland-based BalconyTV, which provides an online viral music show that features bands and musicians, was acquired by The Orchard, a distributor of digital music and video products. The Orchard’s acquisition of BalconyTV will help the platform grow and expand its reach while connecting it to their own discovery, audience development and marketing efforts. Terms were not disclosed.

Machinima, which operates a video entertainment network for video game users, has raised $18 million in funding from Warner Brothers, with participation from Google Ventures, MK Capital, and Redpoint Ventures. The company has raised nearly $70 million in funding to date.

The Experience Engine, which offers marketers a real-time platform that engages with their consumers at physical locations and venues, has raised $3.5 million in funding led by private investors. The company will use the new capital to scale its engineering team, and publicly launch the first version of its offering.

The Complex Sale, which provides solutions for consultative selling, training, and live account sales workshops, was acquired by Sales Performance International, which offers solutions to sales and management professionals. With this acquisition SPI further extends its portfolio of strategic opportunity and account management programs. Terms were not disclosed.

Social media and public relations company Tangerine Communications, and public relations firm The Ferraro Group, have announced their intent to merge. The merger with Tangerine Communications brings clients such as the Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise and its casino properties to the Ferraro Group. Terms were not disclosed.

Internet marketing services company This Way Up! Marketing, which offers social media, website development, and search engine optimization services, was acquired by Sharp Innovations, which is a website development and internet marketing agency. With the acquisition, Sharp Innovations adds expanded video filming and editing services to their suite of marketing capabilities. Terms were not disclosed.

UK-based Kingley Event Management, which provides event management services for travel organizations, was acquired by Travel Weekly Group, an owner and publisher of magazines and online news sites. As part of the Kingley deal, Travel Weekly Group will also acquire travel industry digital news publisher e-tid.com and its database of 11,000 newsletter recipients. Terms were not disclosed.

ArmorActive, which provides hardware, software, and mobile applications to businesses, was acquired by Mobile Technologies (MTI), which offers mobile device display technologies. The acquisition will combine ArmorActive’s knowledge of mobile enterprise solutions with MTI’s technical and global services capabilities. Terms were not disclosed.

network infrastructure software

CoreXchange, which provides network infrastructure and collocation solutions, was acquired by Zayo Group, which offers bandwidth infrastructure. The purchase, will add a new data center to the portfolio of Zayo’s zColo business. Terms were not disclosed.


data management software

Australia-based Sky Software, which provides cloud-based student management systems to the vocational and higher education markets, was acquired by Tribal Group (LSE:TRB), which offers technology-enabled management solutions to the international education, learning, and training markets. Terms were not disclosed.

Junction Solutions, has sold JunctionMCR, which provides a suite of multichannel retail software solutions developed for the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform to Microsoft Corporation (Nasdaq:MSFT). Terms were not disclosed.

hr software

Greece-based Workable Software, which provides a recruiting platform for businesses, has raised $1.5 million in funding led by Greylock Partners. Workable provides a Software as a Service (SaaS) platform for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) to promote their jobs online, open up their hiring process to professional recruiters, review candidates, and schedule interviews.
