Israel-based Social transit application Moovit, providing users data around when the next bus or subway or train or ferry (any public transport) is due to arrive in real-time, has raised $28 million in funding led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from BRM Group and Gemini Israel Ventures. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $31.5 million.

SportsStream, which provides an app that that pulls in streams from social media and delivers real-time stats to enhance live sports that are viewed on tablets, was acquired by social media network Facebook.  Terms were not disclosed.

Foursquare, a social, location-based check-in app that also serves as a local search platform, has raised $35 million in funding led by DFJ Growth and SMALLCAP World Fund. The investment brings the company’s funding to a total of $106 million.

Sha-Sha Entertainment, a Dubai-based platform providing Arabic video content, was acquired by Telly, a social video network. The acquisition will provide Sha-Sha users from all around the world. Terms were not disclosed.

Social video network Telly, which allows users to curate, upload, share, and view videos across the Web and mobile devices, has raised $8 million in funding led by Cinemagic and Lumia Capital, with participation from Azure Capital, Draper Fisher Jurveston, and Felicis Ventures. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $14.5 million.

Dealer.com, which offers a suite of Web-based marketing solutions including search engine marketing, inventory marketing, and performance analytics to the automotive industry, was acquired by Dealertrack Technologies, a provider of software and data solutions to the automotive retail industry, for a reported $8.7 million. The company was sold by Apax Partners.

FanSnap, which provides a live event ticket search engine, was acquired by SeatGeek, a provider of ticket-search services from Wize Commerce. Terms were not disclosed.

Freshdesk, a provider of a software as a service based social customer service platform, has raised $7 million in funding led by Tiger Global Management and Accel Partners, at a valuation of $50 million. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $14.1 million.

CyanogenMod, a mobile software startup that allows users to customize smartphones and tablets solutions for their own preferences, has raised $23 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Tencent Holdings. The investment brings the company’s funding to a total of $29 million.


Resolution Tube, a provider of a mobile collaboration platform for the customer service industry, has raised $1.5 million in funding led by Madrona Venture Group, with participation from Acceleprise Ventures and individual investors. The company will use the funding to reinvent their field service and remote troubleshooting.

Viamedia, which provides outsourced local advertising sales services and provider of online advertising services , has raised $40 million in debt funding led by PNC Bank and US Bank. The company specializes in selling DMA-based advertising to local, regional and national advertisers on behalf of U.S. cable and telecommunications service providers, utility companies and municipalities.

We Are Social, a UK-based social media agency network, was acquired by BlueFocus Communication Group, a China-based marketing services group. The acquisition will allow for BlueFocus to expand its digital and social capabilities.

KEVN-TV, a television broadcast station, was acquired by Gray Television Group, and operator of television broadcasting channels, for $7.7 million.

Nexstar Broadcasting Group and Mission Broadcasting, will acquire six television stations from Gray Television Group and Excalibur Broadcasting for $37.5 million.

Starship Entertainment, a South-Korea based record label that offers artist management and music production services, will sell a 70 percent equity stake to LOEN Entertainment, also a South-Korea based record label. Terms were not disclosed.

Aspera, a company providing technology that enables users to transport big data files to and from the cloud, was acquired by IBM (NYSE:IBM). Terms were not disclosed. The acquisition builds on IBM’s Smarter Commerce initiative by allowing businesses to accelerate their digital supply chains between partners and suppliers.

Folloze, a company providing content distribution in the enterprise, has raised $1.9 million in seed funding led by private investors.

Encaptis Business Solutions, a Canada-based company providing ERP Solutions, was acquired by Vision33, a provider of SAP business management software solutions to small and medium sized businesses. Terms were not disclosed.

Hart Systems, a provider of inventory counting equipment and cloud-computing based services, was acquired by Zebra Technologies, a designer and manufacturer of printing devices from Topspin Partners for a reportedly $94 million. The acquisition will allow Zebra technologies to better serve the retail industry.

Certara, a provider of data analytics software and consulting services to the biopharmaceutical research and development market, was acquired by Arsenal Capital Partners from Vector Capital. Terms were not disclosed.

ACA Compliance Group, a provider of compliance consulting to financial marketers, was acquired by private equity firm New Mountain Capital. Terms were not disclosed.

Frankel Group Associates, a life sciences consulting firm, was acquired by Huron Consulting Group (NasdaqGS:HURN), a company providing operational and financial consulting services. The acquisition will expand Huron’s analytics and regulatory compliance services. Terms were not disclosed.
