iRoko Partners, a Nigeria-based online  entertainment distribution company that offers a video streaming platform, has raised $8 million in funding  led by Tiger Global Management, Kinnevik, and Rise Capital. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $16 million. The investment will be used to expand their subscription services.

WyzAnt.com, a tutor-student matching services, has raised $21.5 million in funding led by Accel Partners. The funding will be used to drive product innovation and scale the company’s technology platform.

Sailthru, a big data company focused on digital brand experiences and communications, has raised $20 million in Series C funding led by Scale Venture Partners. Sailthru’s technology allows businesses to not only collect data on consumer behavior, but also enables them to understand, predict, and engage each consumer on an individual level in real time. The investment brings the company’s funding to a total of $48 million.

SignalDemand, a company providing margin optimization and predictive analytics solutions to help manufacturers tune demand and supply, was acquired by big data software provider PROS Holdings for $13.5 million. The company’s applications rely on econometric models, optimization algorithms, and activity-based costing technologies.


QuickCue, a provider of guest management solutions for online restaurant restaurants, allowing businesses to engage and organize customers, was acquired by online restaurant reservations company OpenTable for $11.5 million.

Targeted marketing technology company RapLeaf, which offers software that customizes emails and provides a recommendation audience analytics system, was acquired by email database company TowerData. Terms were not disclosed.

PulsePoint Group, a digital media technology company helping advertisers and publishers discover and reach their audiences, was acquired by digital agency Olson & Co. Terms were not disclosed. The company’s product suite extends across the marketing and content spectrum including: audience targeting tools, ad exchange and real time bidding platform, a social publishing and content network, and an enterprise level email marketing solution.

Sojern, a data-driven traveler engagement platform that delivers marketing, distribution, monetization, and insight solutions, has raised $10 million in Series C funding led by Triangle Peak Partners, with participation from Norwest Venture Partners, Trident Capital, Focus Ventures, and Industry Ventures.


Qazzow, a developer of question and answer technology for websites and Web applications, has raised $2.4 million in funding co-led by WRF Capital and Voyager Capital, with participation from Summit Capital, and the W Fund. The company’s context-based answer engine provides help where it’s needed, increasing conversion and turning visitors into customers.

BullsEye Marketing, an advertising agency that specializes in emerging online marketing technologies, was acquired by BOC Partners for a reported $4 million.  The acquisition will provide BOC clients with online digital services.

Divvy Cloud, a company that manages hybrid cloud IT environments, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by CIT GAP Funds. The investment will be used to expand their engineering team and online marketing.

Life360, which offers a family locator, messaging tool, and communication application, has raised $7 million in funding led by Duchossois Capital Partners. The investment brings the company’s total funding to $24 million.

GoPago, a startup that offers consumers a mobile application to pre-pay for goods before picking them up at a store, and retailers a point-of-sale system to process the orders, was acquired by Amazon.com (NasdaqGS:AMZN). Terms were not disclosed.

Trinity Pharma, a provider of cloud-based data, analytics, and mobile solutions for the life science industry, has raised $15 million in funding led by Health Enterprise Parnters. The investment will allow the company to extend its solutions.

HR software

DailyFeats (dba Maxwell Health), an HR platform for managing benefits and promoting employee health, has raised $6 million in funding led by Vaizra Investments. This brings the company’s total funding to $8 million.

security software

Entrust, a company that offers identity-based security solutions for government and law enforcement agencies, was acquired by Datacard Group, a provider of secure identification and card personalization solutions, from Thoma Bravo. Terms were not disclosed.

software development tools

StackMob, a cloud-based system designed to ease the development and deployment of mobile applications, was acquired by PayPal. The acquisition will enhance Paypal’s backend software development. Terms were not disclosed.

Real Matters, a Canada-based a provider of information and insights into residential and commercial properties to both the mortgage and property and casualty industries, has raised $40 million equity funding. The investment brings the company’s funding to a total of $62.1 million.

network infrastructure software

WANDL, a provider of software solutions for network planning, management, design, and optimization, was acquired by network infrastructure company Juniper Networks (NYSE:JNPR) for a reported $60 million.
