Minted, which operates as an online stationery retailer, has raised $41 million in Series C funding led by Technology Crossover Ventures, with participation from Allen & Co. and return backer Benchmark Capital. The company previously raised around $8 million.


Stitch Fix, an online personal shopping startup, has raised $12 million in Series B funding led by Benchmark Capital. This brings the company’s total investments to nearly $17 million.


Rhapsody International, an on-demand subscription digital music services, has raised an undisclosed amount of equity funding from Spain-based mobile carrier Telefonica Digital, as part of a larger strategic agreement. The deal will allow Telefonica Digiytal to bundle and resell Rhapsody’s Napster music service and catalog of 20 million tracks to Telefonica mobile and broadband subscribers.

YourEDM, a website that focuses on covering news, releases, events and more that relates to electronic dance music, has been acquired by The EDM Network. Terms were not disclosed.

Everest, which offers a personal productivity app and social network, has raised $2 million in funding from a group of individual investors. Everest app users can set goals, create a plan of action to achieve them, then track and share their progress with their friends and followers, with whom they can also exchange tips, helpful links and words of encouragement.

OpenNews, which offers an online community of developers, journalists, makers, and hackers where they can collaborate on innovative code and new ideas, has raised $4 million in funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Initiated by Mozilla in 2010, and supported by Knight Foundation since 2011, the OpenNews project fosters a community of newsroom technologists.

Japan-based group coupon buying site Luxa has raised $3.3 million in funding from KDDI Open Innovation Fund, the fund operated by Japan-based telecommunications company KDDI. Prior to this funding, the company raised a total of investment worth over $10 million from Japanese investment company Jafco.

game advertising

Germany-based HitFox AppLift, which provides a mobile affiliate network focused on games, has raised $7 million in Series B funding from existing investor Prime Ventures. This follows the company’s $7 million Series A round also from Prime Ventures.

Marketing Technology


PinReach, a Pinterest analytics service and reporting tool with over 30,000 users, has been acquired by Tailwind, which also offers a software-as-a-service Pinterest analytics and marketing suite. Terms were not disclosed.


Mintigo, a marketing intelligence platform that searches the Web and social profiles to help marketers find and engage their best prospects, has raised $10 million in Series C funding led by Adams Street Partners, with participation from return backers Sequoia Capital and Giza Venture Capital. Mintigo analyzes the needs and interests of 30 million B-to-B prospects, so marketers and sales reps can engage each prospect with the right message and product.

DMTI Spatial, a Canada-based a provider of location-based data quality solutions, has been acquired by Europe-based Neopost, a mailroom solutions provider. Neopost is building a portfolio of new activities to enhance its offer and support its clients’ needs. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Compendium, which owns and operates an online content marketing platform, has been acquired by Oracle (NasdaqGS:ORCL). Compendium’s platform enables organizations to capture and create original content in a branded hub for distribution to various marketing channels. The combination of Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud with Compendium is expected to enable marketers to align persona-based content to customers’ digital body language to increase customer engagement, improve the quality of sales leads, realize higher return on their marketing investment, and increase customer loyalty. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Anaqua, a provider of intellectual asset management services and SaaS software, has raised $25 million in funding from Bessemer Venture Partners. Earlier this year the company raised funding form Insight Venture Partners.

MobileAwesomeness.com, an online mobile gallery site, has been acquired by mobile website software company and digital creative agency FiddleFly. Terms were not disclosed. The website’s social mobile exchange allows mobile design and development professionals to connect with potential clients online.

Usermind, a platform allowing employees to work seamlessly across sales, marketing, support, and services, has raised $7.6 million in Series A funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Charles River Ventures and SV Angel. The new money will be used first to build a staff – Usermind expects to expand to between 15 and 20 people who will develop the product and get it into trials – and then take a product to market.

FiveStreet, which provides a lead consolidation and response tool for agents, agent-teams, and brokerages, has been acquired by Move, Inc. (NasdaqGS:MOVE), an operator of an online network of Websites for real estate search, finance, and moving and home enthusiasts. Terms were not disclosed.

L&L Broadcasting has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase eight radio stations from Border Media Business Trust. The radio stations being sold are KJXK, KLEY, KSAH-AM, KSAH-FM, KTFM, KTSA, KZDC, and KHHL. All the radio stations are located in and around the greater San Antonio, Texas area.

China-based Solarvista Media, which offers outdoor advertising billboards, has as secured a Series D round of funding led by Nokia Growth Partners, with participation from Northern Light Venture Capital and Tuspark Ventures. SolarVista has patented technology that enables traditional outdoor media to have digital capabilities. The proceeds from this latest round will give the company the means to roll out the technology.

Personal, a digital vault and private network for people to store and manage important information and documents, has raised $4.5 million in funding led by Bill Miller of financial services firm Legg Mason.

Breathometer, a smartphone breathalyzer, has raised nearly $2 million in seed funding from Structure Capital Venture Capital, Dillon Hill Capital, and individual angel investors.

networking equipment

Wilocity, a developer of 60 GHz wireless chipsets for the notebook and peripheral markets, has raised $35 million in funding led by new investors Vintage Investment Partners and Jerusalem Global Ventures , with participation from existing investors Tallwood Venture Capital, Marvell Technology Group, Benchmark Capital, Qualcomm Atheros, Sequoia Capital Israel, and another undisclosed strategic investor. The company has received $70 million in funding to date.

Italy-based e-works, a company that has developed a complete and organic video collaboration platform for unified communications, has been acquired by Cyprus-based 3CX, which offers Internet protocol private branch exchange software solutions. Terms were not disclosed.

TigerLogic Corp. (Nasdaq: TIGR) has agreed to sell its Multidimensional Database Management Systems business to Rocket Software, a portfolio company of Court Square Capital Partners. The deal is valued at approximately $22 million in cash.

Germany-based ParStream, a provider of a real-time database for big data analytics, has raised $8 million in Series B funding led by Khosla Ventures. The company’s technology was design for online/digital services, travel, telecom, and eCommerce use cases. ParStream has now raised a total of $13.6 million.

Accela, a provider of civic engagement solutions for government agencies that enables citizens to apply for and obtain permits and licenses online, has raised $40 million in Series D funding led by Bregal Sagemount. This brings the company’s total funding to $50 million.

MapBox, a customizable mapping platform based on open data sources for web and mobile application developers, has raised $10 million in Series A funding led by Foundry Group.

Pactera Technology International (Nasdaq: PACT), a China-based provider of global consulting and technology services, is being acquired by The Blackstone Group and Pactera management for $627 million (at an enterprise value of $502 million). Blackstone originally had offered to buy the company for $7.50 per share, before later reducing its bid to $7 per share. The final agreement works out to $7.30 per share. Significant Pactera shareholders include GGV Capital (7 percent stake). Based on LTM financials as of June 30, 2013, the deal values Pactera at 0.9x revenue and 14x EBITDA.

Mach 1 Development, a provider of Identity Management Systems expertise, smartcard design, encrypted communications, e-ID implementation, RFID design, Logistics Integrity, and border control systems expertise, closed a $1 million funding round from unnamed individuals. The investment follows a $0.5 million angel financing the company had raised in February 2013.

The retail sales tracking and consumer research businesses of Leisure Trends, a market research firm covering the sports and recreation industries, has been acquired by The NPD Group, a global information company. Terms were not disclosed. The acquisition does not include Leisure Trends’ Customer Relationship Management business.

Japan-based UTIL, a company providing market research and consulting services, has been acquired by Cross Marketing Group. UTIL’s services include online panel marketing research, e-ad-hoc services, and data analysis services. Terms were not disclosed.


The Government Services staffing division of Capability Healthcare, which provides nurse staffing, travel nursing, allied health, and permanent placement solutions, has been acquired by Accountable Healthcare Staffing, a national provider of quality healthcare staffing solutions. Terms were not disclosed.


Alchemy Systems, a portfolio company of The Riverside Co. providing food and workplace safety training services for production workers, has merged with Catalyst Awareness, a Canada-based provider of employee-awareness communications programs for retailers. No financial terms were disclosed.


Viridis, an online platform for training and placing middle-skill workers, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from Comcast Ventures, Blue Ridge Foundation, CNF Investments, which is an affiliate of Clark Enterprises, Dauk/Wagner Investments, Expansion Venture Capital, and ULU Ventures.
