ERN’s platform brings together card payment and merchant data in real time to enable banks and retailers to see detail corresponding to single purchases.

(10/2/2013) Runa, a software company that helps online retailers increase sales by personalizing the shopping experience via personalization algorithms, was acquired for an undisclosed amount by Staples (NasdaqGS:SPLS). Specifically, Staples will be incorporating two services developed by Runa: PerfectOffer for automated personalized offers in real-time; and PerfectShipping for real-time delivery estimates and free-shipping offers.

Netherlands-based Silk, a provider of a cloud-based data publishing platform, has raised $1.6 million in new seed funding from New Enterprise Associates. The company’s Web app lets users collect, sort, visualize, and store rich information in a structured way.

Sparkcentral (fka TwitSpark), a platform that allows teams within larger enterprises to follow up on customer service and engagement over Twitter and Facebook, has raised $4.5 million in Series A funding from individual and angel investors. The company previously raised $1.1 million from Limburgse Reconversie Maatschappij. Sparkcentral offers private tags, search monitoring, conversation history, multi-user permissions, and automatic follow-up on social platforms.

Mobile engagement platform Appoxee has raised $1.8 million in seed funding led by U.S.-based hedge fund Lazarus Israel Opportunities Fund and an individual investor. This brings Appoxee’s total funding to $2.4 million to date. Appoxee’s cloud-based mobile app engagement platform provides app publishers with a set of tools to increase app engagement and retention.

Fastacash, a Singapore-based social payments platform, has raised $3 million in Series A funding from Jungle Ventures, Spring Seeds Capital and Funding the Future. The company plans to launch in Indonesia and Russia within the year. It has partnered with Indonesian payment service provider Doku, an operator in the electronic payments industry offering Internet payment services. In Russia, its partner is international payments and money transfer system, UNISTREAM.

MongoDB, a NoSQL database company, has raised $150 million in funding led by T. Rowe Price, with participation from Altimeter Capital,Salesforce.com (NYSE:CRM) and return investors Intel Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Red Hat (NYSE:RHT), and Sequoia Capital. The company previously raised approximately $73 million.

Confio Software, which develops database performance solutions for physical and virtual server environments, was acquired for $103 million by SolarWinds (NYSE:SWI), a company offering enterprise-class IT and infrastructure management software to IT professionals in various organizations.

security software

Iolo Technologies, a provider of software that repairs, optimizes, and protects Windows computers, was acquired for an undisclosed amount by Phoenix Technologies, which designs, develops, and supports core system software for computing devices. Iolo Technologies has global sales presence in 33 countries and products in 15 languages.

HR Plus, a provider of background screening, drug and occupational health screening, and fingerprinting services, was acquired by Sterling Infosystems, a background check company sponsored by Calera Capital. No financial terms were disclosed. The seller was AlliedBarton Security Services.

Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) has sold its printing systems division to CoBe Capital. No financial terms were disclosed. Staples’ Printing Systems Division is headquartered in Amsterdam and has nearly 500 employees across subsidiaries in Belgium, Greece, Italy, and Spain. Its annual revenue is approximately €225 million ($305 million).
