Acquisitions:
Global Advertising Strategies has announced the acquisition of Prime Access, to create an independent healthcare cross-cultural marketing firm. The newly-formed agency will fuse together healthcare marketing capabilities of both shops and will operate as Prime Access, becoming the only cross-cultural agency able to provide counsel across 18 cultures and in 35 languages. Terms were not disclosed.
Marvin Mobile Security has been acquired by Veracode, an application vulnerability testing company. The addition of Marvin Mobile Security enables Veracode to offer services for checking applications for malware and understanding what an application does. Terms were not disclosed.
Netherlands-based digital asset management software company Dutchsoftware, was acquired by Netherlands-based WoodWing Software, which provides workflow solutions for multi-channel publishing, for an undisclosed amount. The company’s software makes digital assets such as images and videos easily accessible and manageable. Terms were not disclosed.
Singapore-based One to One Global, which operates as a user experience agency, was acquired by U.K.-based Foolproof, a user experience design agency. The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, underpins Foolproof’s growth ambitions in Asia and establishes an operational hub for the region. One to One Global will be renamed Foolproof.
Ad analytics solutions company Adometry has sold its TagScan technology, a product for publishers to test both ad tags and entire Web pages for third party activity, tag performance, and malware, was acquired by Ad-Juster, which offers a third-party reporting and discrepancy management tool, for an undisclosed amount. Adometry introduced TagScan in 2010 to address problems publishers faced due to the proliferation and increasing complexities of third party ad tags.
Health Data Essentials, a consulting firm that works with Medicare and Medicaid managed-care plans, was acquired by Peak Health Solutions, a company that provides data management services to providers and health plans. The deal will help Peak Health Solutions’ health plan customers in obtaining payments and reaching the performance targets included in the health reform law. Terms were not disclosed.
ProMedical, which provides medical billing and practice management services exclusively for hospital-based anesthesiology practices, was acquired by CBiz (NYSELCBZ). ProMedical is expected to add 58 employees and $4.9 million to CBiz’s annualized revenue. Terms were not disclosed.
Investments:
Barracuda Networks, a provider of content security, data protection, and application delivery solutions, has raised $130 million in new funding via a recapitalization from existing shareholders Francisco Partners and Sequoia Capital. The two firms acquired a minority stake in the company in 2006 with a $40 million Series A investment. Barracuda Networks has made nine acquisitions since then.
Canada-based D-Wave Systems, which is developing quantum-computing IaaS applications that have the potential to revolutionize fields such as drug development, has raised $30 million in Series D funding from Bezos Expeditions and In-Q-Tel.
GraphDive has raised more than $1 million from Correlation Ventures, Crosslink Capital, and angel investors, which it plans to spend on developing its social media analytics and ad targeting software for businesses, and scaling to meet customer growth. The company plans to build out industry-specific product offerings for eCommerce, travel, and media.
